Chico is an owner surrender. He is reactive to UPS trucks, and he was barking at one while the owner kicked him in the butt. He swung around and nipped the guy in the ankle for the kick. Boom, no more home. Chico would make a great one or two-person dog in a quiet home. Or even a home with just adults.
He is very protective of his home and has to be in a crate when guests arrive.
Other than that, he is a great Only Dog.
We recommend further training with him in his new home, in addition to a handler who understands working dogs. Chico is extremely loving, beautiful, and blows coat twice a year with a vengeance.
Something has happened to this dog that involved a UPS driver (man) because he is off the wall when he encounters one of those trucks. We strongly feel that Chico was probably maced or bear sprayed at some time or other by a UPS driver. Chico loves outings, but we will provide a muzzle to keep him out of trouble with people who won't listen to you. Give this guy a chance, he is really a wonderful dog who has developed some stupid habits that training will correct.
